How One Size Clothing Works
What Is One Size Clothing?
If you have ever wondered how one size clothing works, think of it as a simpler, more relaxed way of dressing. Instead of fixed numbers on a label, the fit comes from soft fabrics, thoughtful proportions and shapes that settle comfortably on different bodies.
Traditional sizing (8, 10, 12 and so on) was created to imitate the look of tailored clothing without the tailoring. It works well for structured garments, but it can feel rigid when applied to pieces meant to drape and move. One size design approaches fit differently — not through tight measurements, but through balance.
What Makes One Size Work
Fabric With Natural Drape
Soft knits, fluid viscose blends and relaxed cottons fall into place naturally. They skim rather than cling and feel comfortable across the body.
Shapes Designed for Ease
Dropped shoulders, gentle A-lines, curved hems and open necklines add room without bulk. These shapes aren’t oversized; they’re cut to sit well on different frames.
Proportions That Stay Consistent
Instead of relying on exact bust or waist measurements, one size pieces use length, volume and balance. The result is a clean, easy silhouette that works on more than one specific size.
How It Feels to Wear
Good one size clothing feels relaxed, not loose. It follows the line of the body softly, without needing to be “sized up” or adjusted. The aim is comfort and ease in everyday movement.
How One Size Usually Fits
Each design has its own range, but most of our one size styles suit approximately UK 10–18. More streamlined shapes fit slightly less; more relaxed knits and tunics fit slightly more. We give guidance on each product page.
Why We Use It
Many of our fabrics perform best when allowed to drape. One size works particularly well for knits, soft trousers, dresses with movement and unstructured layers. It avoids the rigid jump between numbered sizes and offers a more natural, consistent fit.
Our Italian makers design with this approach in mind. Their patterns flatter a span of shapes without becoming shapeless, creating clothing that is easy to choose, easy to wear and easy to live in.
